Cutting the Needles

According to the Dynojet Stage 3 Jetting Instructions, after you place the e-clip on the 4th notch from the top of the needle, and before you place the needle back in the slide and put the needle holder back in place on top of the needle, they tell you to cut the top two notches off the needles so the holder will fit on top of the needle properly. Without cutting, the needle top will stick up too far for the holder to screw down and hold the needle.

You WILL need to cut the needles, but you DO NOT need to cut 2 notches off. I cut only the top notch, notch 1, off and that was all that was necessary.

Also, there is some confusion about what notch is what, and what notch is what notch on needles that have been cut in this manner. To clarify some of this, refer to the pictures below. No matter what you have done to your needles, any time notch 4 is mentioned, it is notch 4 in the pictures. That means if you have cut the top 2 notches off your needles, you now have only 4 notches total on your needles (instead of the 6 they come with), and on YOUR ALTERED NEEDLES, notch 4 will be notch 2 on your altered needles, but it is STILL NOTCH 4 for jetting purposes, and any conversation of jetting, needles, and notches. Got that???
