Big City Thunder – Monster Baffles.

 Thunder Monster Baffles

A baffle designed around improving sound and increasing power over unbaffled pipes. After I bought my Vance and Hines Straight Shots pipes, I found myself wanting a louder and meaner tone from my bike. I still wanted to run baffles so I did some searching and I stumbled across Big City Thunder. The install is incredibly easy, just unscrew the stock baffles, remove, insert Thunder Monster baffles apply Loctite and re insert screw. The first thing I noticed after install was the sound from the Thunder Monster baffles is great. At idle the bike isn't too loud but has a seriously deep rumble for a 750 so I'll bet a bigger engine would yield an even greater sound. When rolling the throttle these baffles really make my bike scream. The design of these baffles is something to speak of. They look like a dumbbell with a decorative floating washer in the center at one end (inserting a thumb screw into exhausts used to be a hot rod trick years before my time for more hp/torque). The dumbbell shape is similar to the venturi on a carburetor which increases exhaust gas velocity (a good thing). These baffles appear to be pretty simple yet incredibly scientific. It is my experience that Thunder Monster baffles not only give you a greatly improved sound over pipes with stock baffles, but they help you get better throttle response and perhaps more power. BCT claims you can get up to 12HP and 14 ft lbs of torque increase over using no baffles. On a shadow spirit 750 I doubt the performance increase could ever be that that much as the bike puts out 39HP stock, but you can definitely feel the difference using these baffles over the stock baffles and most definitely no baffles at all. I do not have any dyno results to scientifically note the difference, however, I will say that even if there is no HP increase there is definitely an increase on the midrange torque from these baffles. I would recommend them  to any one with pipes that are compatible (pipes that came with baffles or pipes with a straight exit) no matter what type of bike you ride American or metric. If you are thinking of installing torque cones to regain power in your baffle less pipes BCT baffles are be an easier solution and they sound great. The throaty and deep tone is worth it. An added plus was that they threw in a free t-shirt with my order.
