Surf Fin Custom Engine CoverIf you have ever removed your Stock Air Box from your SS750 you quickly notice that the front engine cover on the right side has a big black hole instead of engine fins similar to all other sides of the front and rear cylinders. If you switch to an aftermarket intake such as a Thunder MFG Air kit you may want to remedy this hole to make the engine look more uniform and cosmetically better. There are two ways to accomplish this. You can buy a rear left engine cover (part number: 12290-MBA-710) and modify it yourself by cutting out a square notch to allow for the exhaust port (use the cylinder cover you remove as a template for the exhaust and be sure to measure carefully so you do not cut too much). The bolt holes line up. Or if you are able to you can find someone who is making and selling them such as Surfernick. In the past this modification has been made by various folks and called by various names such as the "Troy Fin", "Surf Fin", etc. In the end the picture speaks for itself. Cosmetically this is a must do mod to give the engine a cleaner more uniform look. I highly recommend try to purchase a modified fin from whomever may be making and selling them or you take the time and you do this mod yourself because it really cleans up the look of the bike. Expect to pay around $130 to $200 from any making these. Or if you do it yourself expect to pay around $90 for the factory part from one of the listed OEM Parts stores listed in the Recommended Stores page on this site or you can visit your local Honda dealership.
