Thunder MFG Tornado Air Kit – Chrome Type A with Honda 750 Adapter part #31009A.
Thunder MFG makes a long line of performance air intakes for all makes and models of motorcycles. The Tornado Air Kit has great high performance looks but also appears to be one of the most high performance intakes Thunder MFG makes. Install of the Tornado intake is relatively easy. The only problem on the SS750 is making sure everything is tightened down properly so it can't vibrate loose due to the poor mounting design of the SS750 air box by Honda to begin with, this is no fault of Thunder MFG. I must recommend using a gasket sealer to seal the stock airbox boot to the Thunder intake adapter to prevent any air leaks that could cause potential problems in tuning your carbs for this intake. The quality of this intake is great. The chrome is top notch, the K&N filter is great. The mounting adapter isn't chrome but looks very good with its polished aluminum look. This is a heavy duty air intake, and it looks as if it would provide a ram air effect when traveling at high speeds. While this probably isn't the case due to the speeds required to create a ram air effect it still screams performance. Jetting for this intake is an incredible step above stage 1 jetting for pipes. If you have modified your stock air box this still pulls more air and requires larger jetting. Thunder can provide you with their recommended main jet sizes, however, I prefer not to do this. I do not agree with one size fits all jetting. I recommend a Factory Pro CRB-H39-3.0-TH jet kit or the Dynojet equivalent. For best performance the stock needles and idle jets will need to be replaced. After having installed this air intake and properly tuned the carbs for this intake, I have to recommend this intake for any motorcycle. The looks scream performance. The Functionality of the large filter and intake tube drastically increase performance over stock. And the final seat of your pants dyno is incredible. This intake really allows the SS750 to scream from start all the way to WOT. With this intake on the SS750 cruises down the highway at 80+ mph as if the bike doesn't even have to try.
