Progressive 412 Short Shocks

Progressive is quite possibly the biggest name in motorcycle suspensions. I purchased the standard progressive 11" shocks in order to lower my bike and improve ride comfort. The 412 series shocks come in two versions: Standard and Heavy Duty. I recommend you consult Progressive Suspension to decide which version you should purchase. The shortest length of the Heavy Duty shocks is 11.5". The first thing I noticed about these shocks is the Chrome. The chrome is deep and brilliant. These shocks simply look great with the Top and bottom covers and spring being chrome and the shock itself is black for a nice contrast. The install was easy, these shocks come with a ton of adapters for various different bikes, none were needed for the SS750. When riding these shocks vs. the stock shocks are like night and day. They lowered the bike about 2" and the ride is smooth over the smallest bumps to pot holes and speed bumps. These shocks do a great job of absorbing the unpleasantness of the roads. A great feature of these shocks is the 5 position cam preload adjustment. I prefer to run these shocks on the stiffest preload, but I also weight close to 200lbs. If you weigh less you will most likely need less preload. If you are going to use the 11" versions of the 412 shocks I do not recommend them for riding two up if your combined weight is over 300lbs. These shocks in my opinion are best for an average load of around 200lbs. If you plan on riding two up I must strongly recommend the 11.5" Heavy-Duty model. For solo riding, the cost of these shocks vs. the quality of ride is worth every penny. After riding a progressive suspension I don't think I could ever go back to a stock quality suspension.

***Note than in order to run 11" Shocks with a lowering bracket such as the 1.5" Scootworks bracket you may have to modify your rear fender sub-frame to fix clearance issues by cutting and grinding.
