Thunder MFG Thunder Charged Round Air KitThunder MFG makes a long line of performance air intakes for all makes and models of motorcycles. The Round Air Kit has performance looks and brings a feeling of symmetry to a V Twin style engine sitting nicely between the cylinders. Installation of this particular model of Thunder intake was incredibly easy as I replaced a Tornado intake with this one. If you have a VT750DC and have not replaced the front right engine fins with a Surf Fin, Troy Fin, or a modified rear left engine fine you will have an ugly non finned black area exposed with this intake. Make sure everything is tightened down properly so it doesn't vibrate loose on the road. The Round Air Kit is much lighter and puts far less stress on the stock plastic intake box of the VT750DC. If you are installing a Thunder intake in place of your stock intake I recommend using a gasket sealer to seal the stock airbox boot to the Thunder intake adapter to prevent any air leaks that could cause potential problems in tuning your carbs. The chrome of the Round Air kit is superb and the Thunder Charged indented words can be seen clearly from a far. Just FYI Thunder MFG makes different models of the round air kit as well as oval and tear drop shapes as well. The performance of each of these intakes will be the same. I have noticed a problem with the the K&N filter and its oil. With this model the oil runs to the bottom of the filter leaving the top of the filter oilless while the bottom is overly saturated. I get around this by rotating my air filter once a week. To do this I loosen the single cover screw, then rotating the filter element so the overly saturated area is on top and re tighten. This work around is kind of annoying but not difficult in any way ant takes less than a minute to do. The mounting adapter isn't chrome but looks very good with its polished aluminum look. As will all aftermarket intakes the jetting for this intake is an incredible step above stage 1 jetting for pipes. If you have modified your stock air box this still pulls more air and requires larger jetting. Thunder can provide you with their recommended main jet sizes, however, I prefer not to do this. I do not agree with one size fits all jetting. I recommend a Factory Pro CRB-H39-3.0-TH jet kit for the VT750DC jet kit or the equivalent for your model bike. After having installed both this air intake and the Tornado, I prefer the Round intake. Getting the jetting dialed in seemed much easier with this than the Tornado which did have some X-wind issues on the highway.  The Functionality of the large filter drastically increase performance over stock. And the final seat of your pants dyno is worth the money especially when combined with aftermarket pipes, sprocket, advanced timing, and stage 3 jetting. This intake really allows my Shadow Spirit 750 to scream from a stop all the way to WOT down the highway.  An added note, I am not using a pre filter and I have ridden in the rain with this intake. Al I can say for wet weather riding is to make sure the filter is properly oiled as that will help it repel water. On my VT750 the air intake ducting has done plenty to keep water out even if it gets past the filter.
